Obelon has built up a reputation for the quality of its workshops for children and adults in education and community settings.
We offer a variety of puppetry and other arts workshops, over periods from 60 minutes to 2 weeks.
Puppets
We can show groups how to make different types of puppet using a range of materials. The choice includes ‘muppet-style’, glove, rod, shadow, full-figure ‘table-top’ puppets or giant carnival structures and costumes.
Over a day, we can work with a group of children to enable them to create puppets and do a short performance for schoolmates, family or friends.
Masks
The choice includes half, full-face, full-head and giant masks constructed from a variety of materials.
Performance skills
A demonstration of puppets and masks from Obelon’s collection, followed by how to animate puppets and masks, use different styles and match the type of puppet to the context of the story, plus many theatre games and exercises for exploring the use of masks.
Music
In conjunction with the Three Singing Pigs! and The Rapping Rats! Shows, we offer Foundation and Key Stage 1 music workshops incorporating games, movement and composition using voice and percussion.
