Rose Blanche

When Wars begin, people often cheer. The sadness comes later ….

Adapted from Roberto Innocenti’s picture book, the story of a child’s attempt to do good in a world run mad is told some years after the demise of the second world war by an old childhood friend.

Rose Blanche lives in a small town in Nazi Germany, through which truckloads of people are quietly transported each day. Roused by her innocent curiosity, Rose follows the convoy one day to uncover a terrible secret which inspires in her some drastic action and changes her life forever. The unique combination of live acting and puppetry, underscored by original music, accentuates the moving truth of a generation thrown into confusion and chaos.
