This package, aimed at 11 to 16 year olds, of ten-minute puppet skits followed by workshop activities was developed through a process of consultation with young people, youth workers, health professionals and sex education trainers. It addresses the wider context faced by young people rather than simply the ‘mechanics’ of sex and contraception.

The package is designed to fit in with and complement the sex education programme of the host organization, and be delivered with a teacher or youth worker present. Activities have been developed following the recommendations for good practice set out in the DfEE’s ‘Sex and Relationship Education Guidance’, Suffolk Health Alliance’s ‘Effective Practice in Sexual health’ and the Teenage Pregnancy Unit’s guidance for youth workers on providing information and referring young people to contraceptive and sexual health services.
The workshop leaders both have clean ‘enhanced disclosure’ certificates from the C.R.B.
